Fear and faith are the same with one difference. Fear is undirected imagination. It runs wild and your imagination can create some spectacularly horrific visions that most likely will never come to be. As Mark Twain said, “I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.”
Faith on the other hand is directed imagination. As Einstein said, “Imagination is everything, it is the preview of life’s coming attractions.” If we direct our imagination we can create more for ourselves and for others. Make it a practice to use your imagination throughout the day and get in the habit of acting on the ideas that you feel strongly about.
Remember, this is a skill you can learn to develop and the more you PRACTICE it the better you will be. Think of some things that you used your imagination to create in your life now. And what are some things you’d like to create by directing your imagination on a daily basis? What will your life be like 1 year from now? 4 years from now? 11 years from now? 47 years from now?
It is natural to feel uncertain in life and that is when you can use your imagination to transform your fear into faith.
“I only hope we don’t lose sight of one thing – that it was all started by a mouse.” – Walt Disney
